Key Takeaways:

Dear Comrades,

This year, we’ve resolved ourselves to not participate in the hype of pushing out a new productivity system and planner for our community at the beginning of the year, because we believe that it’s all about the consistent efforts that we put in daily, weekly, and monthly, that get us to where we want to go.

When we tell ourselves that we will reinvent at the beginning of a year, quarter, etc. - we end up placing unnecessary burdens upon ourselves to rise up dramatically to the occasion when we haven’t even taken the baby steps yet to get started.

While chatting with the community recently we learned a fantastic idea from one of our members - ice cream vs frogs. The conventional knowledge for how to deal with hard tasks is to make sure they are the first thing you do in the morning - and once that is over, you can continue on with your day with your blocker gone.

We call this process ‘Eating The Frog’, because it can be unpleasant, hard, and sometimes downright disgusting - thus we try to make sure we get it out of the way ASAP. However, this philosophy fails to address that when the task seems insurmountable, and scary - we often find ourselves avoiding ever getting started, and building up a wall of awful! So how do we convince ourselves to sit down, and start getting work done?

Well, don’t eat the frog first - lick the ice cream instead! Find one simple task that you love to do, and make it the first thing you do when you start your day. Once you start, the momentum starts rolling, and the rest of the tasks will naturally flow through.

2021 In Review - Living A Happy Fulfilled Life

What does it take to live a fulfilled life? This is a question that has been constantly on my mind ever since last year, when I hypothesized that fulfillment is a fundamental part of self-actualization, and together with contribution to others is where we can achieve happiness.

If you're curious about what I've been up to, and where I'm going, I've just shared my year in review. In this article, I shared my journey of how I optimized for happiness this year by developing 3 frameworks to help me consistently find meaning in the work that I do for others.

Never Struggle Alone 🤗

New Community Spaces

We’re always trying to upgrade our community experience so that we can have more meaningful conversations and know that we don’t have to struggle alone. We recently found a brand new space for us to make virtual interactions more human and do more than just talk. In our Gather space, we can create virtual avatars to walk around in the ‘Guild’, and interact with each other, play games, and even meditate.

We’ve had our last few Sunday Council Meetings in the space, including meeting #100 (wow!) and have been actively using it for co-working, studying, and having meaningful discussions. After sharing with the Gather team about our community, they were generous enough to sponsor us for the rest of the year to promote our vision of how we can grow and learn as a community - online.

Since last week, we’ve been posting a 60 second (or less!) highlight from our Sunday Council Meetings every day to share with the community the meaningful conversations that happen organically and how we support each other in our weekly wars.

Wall Of Love

Ari J warmed our hearts this week when they shared their ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review about our templates. Here’s what they had to say.

I remember seeing the video for this template when I first got Notion. I didn’t watch the video because I assumed the template would be too complicated. Now that I understand how Notion works, I can say a lot more confidently that this is a great template well worth the money. The time and energy that must have gone into this I have no doubt was immense. Hats off to the team that created and continues to expand this template.

Thanks Ari! It’s been an amazing journey, and we feel blessed every time we read a comment or receive a new email with such kind words – thank you so much for being awesome! If you have words to share - leave a review here!

Let's keep each other accountable on our growth journey. Reply on this email and send your response to this question:
